Sehat Sutardja, PhD

Co-founder and Board Chairman

Dr. Sehat Sutardja is the co-founder of Marvell Technology Group (NASDAQ: MRVL) and formerly it’s Chief Executive Officer and Director. He previously held positions at Micro Linear Corp. and Integrated Information Technology, before founding Marvell in 1995. Since founding, Marvell grew into a company with annual revenues of over $5B and market value in excess of $50B under Dr. Sutardja’s leadership.


In 2015 as plenary speaker at ISSCC (IEEE Forum), Dr. Sutardja introduced the concept of “chiplets” challenging the industry to rethink how to build chips in the more than Moore era. He co-founded Silicon Box to address the lack of investment by OSATs in chiplet integration capacity and technology. He is also an active investor in many other start-ups that address chiplet infrastructure.


Dr. Sutardja is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). In 2004, Dr. Sutardja received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2006, he was recognised as Inventor of the Year by the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association. In 2013, Dr. Sutardja and his co-founders were honoured with the 2013 Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award by the Global Semiconductor Alliance. He holds over 500 patents and is widely considered one of the finest analog to digital semiconductor designers alive, today.


Dr. Sutardja received his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley. The Sutardja-Dai Hall at UC Berkeley is named in his honour.
